Well, first of all, I want to apologize for my absence from blogging. There have been a lot of changes this past year. For the last 38 years, I’ve lived in Massachusetts and I decided it was time for a change. Almost everywhere I’ve lived I was only a short distance from the tracks. As if it was meant to be we found a home in Landis, North Carolina where the Norfolk Southern mainline cuts right through downtown.
Today was a special day I was able to photograph the Norfolk Southern locomotive 8098. This isn’t just any locomotive this is the Conrail heritage unit. Conrail holds a special place in my heart since it was the first freight line I’ve ever rail-fanned. Growing up, my dad and I spent a lot of time watching Conrail working in Middleboro, Massachusetts railroad yard.
