Christmas is fast approaching here are some great gift ideas for yourself or for a fellow railfan in your life.

Live Webcam Membership
I really enjoy railfanning I would love to do it full time but I can’t like many others. There are two live webcam streaming companies providing views of some of the most popular railfanning destinations. This is the best way to check out other locations from the comfort of your home. Both companies have monthly and yearly subscriptions.
Publications
From model trains to railroad news there are lots of great magazines out there. Looking to dive into local railroad history? I’ve found many great books by just doing a Google search.
Museums
Many railroad museums often have annual memberships offering great perks for being a member. Some even offer free admission throughout the year and special member-only events.
Equipment
Photography is often a huge part of the railfanning experience why not a gift card to a photography shop. One of my favorite photoshop is B&H Photo Video in New York City. They have a huge selection on photography equipment and great service.
Another essential tool is a scanner. If you are in need of a new or a first one Scanner Master has the Unimate Railfan Package. The Uniden BC125AT Railfan Package has everything you need to get you up and running from a tuned antenna, carrying case, power adapter, and a local railroad frequency directory. Read my past blog entry how the BC125AT is one of the best scanners for railfanning.
